The focus of CIMT is to combine restraint of the unaffected limb and intensive use of the affected limb.
"At the recommendation of our son'd therapists, neurologist, and rehab physician, we enrolled our son in his first CIMT camp shortly after he turned 2. The results were amazing! He gained lots of skills with his most affected arm/hand, and his ability to walk too off in those weeks! There was a very drastic change in his mobility from the start of camp to the end of camp. Encouraged by his progress in his first camp, he completed a 3 week intensive cast therapy session about 6 months later. Again, we noticed improved function on his affected side. This time, his speech improved dramatically. We are very strong advocates of CIMT therapy and have seen across the board improvements in our son."
